Our Funfair & Laser Show — two deadlines this Thursday
Our Funfair & Laser Show on Thursday 5th November is announced, and there are two things you can do right now: sign up for a Martyn Gerrard advertising board (£15 to the school for every family who displays one) and enter the poster competition. Both close on Thursday 24th September.
Open Evening and Open Mornings
For families with Year 6 children, the school’s Open Evening is from 4pm on Wednesday 30th September, with three Open Mornings on 6th, 7th and 8th October. Tour places are limited and expected to fill quickly — booking opens via the school website.
Year 7 and Year 12 welcome events
The Year 7 Welcome Afternoon is Wednesday 23rd September, 4pm–6pm — arrive via the Tetherdown Gate to meet your child’s tutor, followed by refreshments and short presentations in South Wing Hall from Ms Fox, Ms Brooks and the Friends of Fortismere. The Year 12 welcome event is the same evening. Please note these are for parents and carers only.
Student enrichment timetable
The school has published its 2026/27 clubs and activities timetable — a genuinely impressive spread of before-school, lunchtime and after-school options, from chess, coding and Latin to netball, samba band, manga club and creative writing. Well worth a look with your child. Download it below.
Music
The Welcome Back Concert is Thursday 1st October at 6pm and tickets are on sale now. Instrumental and vocal lessons are now running, and the Junior and Youth Choirs are still open to new members.
Sport
Congratulations to the Year 10 boys’ football team on a 4–2 win over Wren Academy Enfield — a fine start to the season. All after-school PE clubs have now started, and teams are selected through club attendance, so it’s worth turning up.
Drama
School of Rock rehearsals are well under way, and the Inter-School Drama Festival takes place on Wednesday 30th September, 3pm–6.30pm, with students devising and performing a play in a single day.
SEND drop-in sessions
The LINC team is running two drop-in sessions in the Conference Room, 8.40–9.30am: Monday 28th September for parents of students with an EHCP, and Monday 5th October for parents of Year 7 students on the SEND register. Email [email protected] to attend.
